The Community YMCA Helps Families Charge Into Summer at Healthy Kids Day®, April 29

Free Event Inspires Kids to Stay Active & Keep Learning All Summer Long

On Saturday, April 29, The Community YMCA’S Camp Zehnder, Child Achievement Center and Family Health and Wellness Center, are hosting Healthy Kids Day, a free community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active now and all summer long.

“Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s official start to the best summer ever,” said Rhonda Anderson, President and CEO of The Community, which serves 20,000 people across Monmouth County. “We’re here to help kids and families get the most out of the summer season with ideas to fill each day with the potential for growth, achievement, fitness and fun.”

Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being for kids and families. It was established in 1992 in response to alarming statistics that one in three U.S. children is obese. Research shows that without access to out-of-school physical and learning activities, kids fall behind academically and gain weight twice as fast during summer than the school year. The Y will highlight many of its summer programs at Healthy Kids Day including day camp and swim lessons.
