Despite Ice, Snow, Monmouth Fire Destroys Century-Old House, Displaces Residents
Fire company reports say a resident was entrapped during the fire

A fire burned down a century-old house in Monmouth Beach Wednesday.
Just before 1 a.m., the Monmouth Beach Fire Company and Sea Bright Fire Rescue were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 13 River Ave. in Monmouth Beach, according to the Monmouth Beach Fire Co.
First arriving crews found heavy fire through the roof of a three-story wood-frame single family, with reports of entrapment in the third floor.

A second alarm was struck by command, bringing in mutual aid and cover assignments from Highlands, Long Branch, Neptune and Little Silver, Oceanport, West Long Branch, Deal and Asbury Park Fire Departments.
Also responding were EMS crews from Monmouth Beach, West Long Branch, MAB from Neptune and Long Branch First Aid Squad.

Fire crews remained on scene until 5 a.m. checking for hot spots. The scene has since been turned over to the Monmouth Beach and Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation.
