Man Killed When Car Rear-Ends Tractor-Trailer In Wall: Police
The crash on Friday closed Route 70 for about 2-1/2 hours, police said.

WALL, NJ — Wall Township police are seeking witnesses to a Route 70 crash that killed a Point Pleasant man on Friday morning.
The man, a 79-year-old resident of Point Pleasant, was killed when the 2007 Lexus SUV hit the rear of a 2006 Peterbilt tractor-trailer on Route 70 west near the intersection with Riverview Drive, Detective Lt. Greg Carpino said Monday. The crash happened about 10:40 a.m. on Friday, he said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 56-year-old Freehold man, did not suffer any injuries, Carpino said.

The Point Pleasant man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not release his identity or that of the trucker.
Wall Community First Aid, the South Wall Fire Department, MONOC and the New Jersey State Police Truck Unit responded and assisted with the investigation, Carpino said. Route 70 was closed between Route 34 and Riverview Drive for approximately 2½ hours while the crash investigation was conducted, he said. NJDOT assisted with the road closure.
