New Jersey State Police Trooper Youth Week Graduates 104th Class (Photos)
The teens are given a taste of the training New Jersey State Troopers undergo.
SEA GIRT, NJ — For a week, they gave up their phones and video games for sit-ups and push-ups and early morning runs. And the members of the 104th Trooper Youth Week Class got a glimpse into the life of a New Jersey State Trooper.
Physical training, military drill and classroom instruction were just part of the week. They listened to a presentation by speakers from the Travis Manion Foundation, which works to develop character in younger students as a tribute to the life of U.S. Marine 1stLt Travis Manion, who was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." according to the foundation's website.
They had the chance to experience a physical training session on the sands of Sea Girt just like an NJSP recruit, and learned about the NJSP K-9 unit.

"The families should be proud not only because the class worked hard, came together, and faced challenges with great determination, but because they survived an entire week without video games, internet, and even their phones! That truly is an accomplishment!" the post said.
