Police: Toms River Man Exposed Himself While Driving On Route 34

The man was quickly identified because the victim was able to describe the vehicle and give its license plate, police said

Driving schools tell you to keep both hands on the steering wheel when you’re driving.

A Toms River man is facing lewdness charges in Wall Township, police say, after he apparently ignored that rule.

The man, Phillip P. Dauria, 27, of Toms River, is accused of driving along Route 34 in Wall and exposing his genitals last week, Lt. Pete Lokerson said.

The victim told Wall police the man -- a white male with dark hair, a full dark beard in his mid-20s driving a silver Jeep Cherokee -- had exposed his genitals while driving on Route 34 near Belmar Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m. on Thursday, Lokerson said.

The victim was able to provide enough information, including the license plate of the vehicle, so police were able to positively identify the suspect, he said.

Patrolmen Miles Shanklin and Ian Hatch investigated and arrested Dauria and charged him with one count of lewdness, Lokerson said. He was processed at Wall Police Headquarters and released.
