SAVE SHARK RIVER

SAVE SHARK RIVER

SAVE SHARK RIVER

There is a site on Facebook SAVE SHARK RIVER is dedicated to improving the health condition of the
entire Shark River, not just the recreational channels.
That is the agenda and we need help.
What official can step up and make this happen?
Please refer them to the page or to us directly and ask them to step up.
We are not trying to bash Wall or any other Town or Agency. Wall does not want and should not be the only solution to bring the river back. We need their help to get the process started. Let the state use this pre=approved site once and put in the agreement that it will not be used for the minimum of (x) years if and only if Wall approves.
We are trying to inform and open up lines of communication.
Shark River has been dying for some time with no help in site.
The Shark River ranks as the Second Highest Polluted Beach in the state. By dredging the channels the river gets a cleaner flush twice per day when the tides change. That should only be the start. We also need longer term solutions otherwise it will just fill back. There is a natural runoff of mud from all the surrounding towns that causes this problem.
We know of other possible solutions that include building a living shoreline to rebuild the land along the river edge using the sediment in the river to protect homes. Who will listen?
The NJDOT & DEP will offer more funding for these projects only if all elected officials work together for the common cause. The Monmouth County Freeholders must make their shared services a big part of this solution with all the surrounding towns. Maybe form a River Commission not in name but action to work together for the river?
The surrounding towns are not all cooperating due to past issues 10 years ago that were never fully resolved. This has to stop now. The 4 elected Assembly people Casagrande, Angelini, Kean & Rible must commit to help. State Senators Beck & Singer must team up both Districts to work with us.
Congressman Smith get Federal help.
There is federal, state & county money available
If and only If there is a United political will to work together.
The Shark River is too valuable of a resource to lose.
The sediment has been tested and the samples taken are clean.
The DEP is 100% responsible if any contaminants are found.
What official can step up and make this happen? If not, Why not?

If this continues the river turns into a Salt Marsh the pollution increases to more dangerous levels and that the green head flies like down in the Barnegat who thrive on those conditions. How much will it cost then to clean later? More maybe more dead fish? Real Estate values will drop.
Who will help us the people? We vote. Let us know or will let you know.
Thank you
