School Bus Leak Causes Diesel Spill In Wall, Police Say

The spill affected Route 35 and other roads in neighboring towns, Wall police said.

Hazmat workers and other emergency crews spent Wednesday afternoon cleaning up a diesel spill on Route 35 in Wall caused by a school bus’s leaking fuel tank, Wall police said Thursday.

Police received a report about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday that a school bus southbound on Route 35 was leaking diesel fuel in the road, Wall Lt. Pete Lokerson said. The bus, owned by Klarr Transportation in Lakewood, was stopped near Ocean Road, he said. It appeared to have been leaking fuel since it left the company’s maintenance yard in Lakewood, Lokerson said.

There were no children on the bus at the time and there were no injuries reported, he said.
