SPCA Officers To Patrol Jersey Shore Looking For Animals Left In Hot Cars

Volunteers will converge on shore towns from Point Pleasant to Seaside Park.

Unless you’ve made sure your pet will not be overheated and unattended, you will pay a price.

The NJSPCA Jersey Shore Enforcement Detail will be patrolling the Jersey Shore from Point Pleasant to Seaside Park on Saturday, July 18, looking for pets left alone in vehicles.

“The officers that are part of this enforcement detail will be volunteering their time,” according to the group’s Facebook page. ”Each year the NJSPCA performs this detail and each year animals are saved from hot cars.”

Any New Jersey resident who leaves an animal in a hot vehicle will have their pet removed from the car by animal control. The pet will be taken to a veterinary hospital and the owner will be issued a summons.

Out of state residents who leave a pet in a hot car will be arrested by NJSPCA officers. Animal control will take their pet will taken to a veterinary hospital and the owner will have to post bail to be released from jail.

“If you are in the shore area on Saturday, July 18 and see our officers let them know you appreciate their efforts!” the post states. ”WAKE UP, NEW JERSEY, dogs left in a vehicle under inhumane conditions can lead to brain damage, heat stroke and death. Enough is enough!!!”
