Take The Train Sunday To See American Pharoah At Monmouth Park
The Triple Crown winner's appearance at the Haskell Invitational is expected to draw 60,000; officials are urging fans to take NJ Transit.

In an effort to encourage people to take the train to Monmouth Park Sunday to see Triple Crown winner American Pharoah run in the William Hill Haskell Invitational, New Jersey Transit is adding trains to the North Jersey Coast Line, according to a report.
More than 60,000 people are expected to head to the racetrack in Oceanport on Sunday to see the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years, the Asbury Park Press report said. To cope with the crush of people, the state Department of Transportation and NJ Transit have a plan they hope will move people safely and efficiently, the report said.
The race is set to go off at 5:52 p.m.

The report said NJ Transit is adding four extra trains after the race. Three will be dedicated to northbound departures, while an additional train will take riders southbound.
The North Jersey Coast Line stops at Port Au Peck Avenue in Oceanport, a 10-minute walk from the park. Port Au Peck Avenue is being closed to vehicles, the report said. Riders going to Monmouth Park should purchase round-trip tickets at their departure station, as there is no ticket booth at the Monmouth Park depot, the report said.

Parking at Monmouth Park has been raised to $20 for Haskell Day to encourage the use of mass transit, the report said.
