Popular television program “Tales of the Jersey Shore” has been asked to return and given a time-slot for a six episode second season on NJTV. To meet this demand the host and crew are running a Kickstarter campaign through the end of May to raise the necessary funds.
Tales, which began as a grassroots blog and Facebook group in 2010 and has since grown to over 45,000 followers was started by historian and author Emil Salvini as way of more accurately reflecting NJ’s beauty and spirit than its television counterparts that played on harmful State stereotypes. The show prides itself on highlighting the historical relevance and family friendly side of the shore while promoting local tourism and educating it’s audience on the important role New Jersey has played from it’s earliest days to today.
This campaign will run Monday April 28 through Tuesday May 27 and aims to raise $60,000, a fraction of the cost it would take a traditional high definition show to produce a season. Incentives for the Kickstarter include posters, calendars, and vintage replica postcards depicting classic shore sceneries as well as a DVD set of season one, which featured episodes on the boardwalks, NJ’s original life saving stations and an hour long special on Hurricane Sandy. Other incentives include producer credits; walk on roles, and a Carousel Horse from the host’s personal collection, one of only a handful left from the many carousels that used to sprinkle NJ amusement parks.
