Teen Hospitalized After Belmar Boulevard Crash In Wall

The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation, police say.

A 17-year-old girl from Neptune was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Belmar Boulevard and Schoolhouse Road on Wednesday, Wall police said Thursday.

The girl, whose name has not been released, had to be extricated from her car and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with serious injuries, Wall Police Chief Robert L. Brice said.

The crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Police responding to the crash found that a 1994 Ford Explorer, driven by an unidentified 24-year-old Wall Township man, was headed west on Belmar Boulevard when he collided with a 2006 Hyundai Sonata being driven south from Schoolhouse Road by the 17-year-old, Brice said.

Glendola Fire Department members and the Wall Township First Aid squad extricated the girl, who was taken to Jersey Shore by MONOC Paramedics, Brice said.

The collision caused the road to be shut for approximately 2-1/2 hours while Wall Township Police and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team investigated.
