The Kure For Kyla Run, a 5K run and 2 mile walk, will be held June 8 at the Wall Municipal Complex, in support of Kyla Harpell, an 11-year-old being treated for leukemia. The 5K run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will start 15 minutes later at 8:45 a.m.
All proceeds from the walk will go to the Harpell family and pediatric cancer research, according to Michele Domenick, the organizer of the event and friend of Randy Harpell, Kyla’s mother.
Kyla, a student at Allenwood Elementary School in Wall, was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, the most common type of childhood cancer, in November and is expected to be in treatment for 2.5 years.
