Tough Night In Wall: Man Arrested Twice In Three Hours

He tried to avoid the first trip to the police department for booking; he couldn't avoid the second, police said.

WALL, NJ — Wednesday night was not a good night for an Asbury Park man. Less than three hours after being arrested after a motor vehicle stop, the man found himself arrested again — this time on drug charges, Wall police said Thursday.

According to police blotter reports released by Detective Sgt. Greg Carpino, Toye A. Johnson, 26, first ran afoul of Wall police at 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

During a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of the Foodtown shopping center at 1732 Route 35, Johnson gave Patrolman Chris Mason false information about his identity, resulting in him being arrested on charges of hindering his own apprehension and obstruction of the administration of law, Carpino said.

After arrest processing, Johnson was released on a complaint summons with a pending court date, Carpino said.

But less than two hours later, Johnson was back at Wall Township Police Headquarters, arrested again by Mason following an investigation at Budget Inn & Suites at 1909 Route 35, Carpino said.

Johnson and Tejeda were released on complaint summonses with pending court dates, Carpino said.
