Breaking: Wall police said Route 33/34 is closed in the area while repairs are being made. There was no estimate on when it would reopen.

WALL, NJ — A transformer fire on a utility pole along Route 33/34 is disrupting traffic in Wall on Monday, police said.

Police were called to Brick Recycling, at 5310 Route 33/34 in Wall, about 4:15 a.m. Monday, Detective Lt. Greg Carpino said, for a report of a utility pole with arcing wires.

The investigation found the transformer on the pole was on fire, he said, forcing the closure of Route 33/34 in both directions from the Collingwood Circle to the Howell Township border as a result, Carpino said. The road remained closed as of 1 p.m. while repairs are made at the site, he said.
