Turning 100 years YOUNG at Preferred Care At Wall!
Fannie Sass and Josephine Abate Residents of Preferred Care At Wall reached the unique milestone of a 100th birthday.

Preferred Care At Wall, a cutting edge subacute and skilled nursing center in Allenwood, NJ, was honored to be the site of a grand celebration this August, as two of its cherished Residents marked a unique milestone: Fannie Sass and Josephine Abate reached their 100th birthday.
“The excitement at our Center was palpable”, says Gianna Prospero-Garrow, Therapeutic Recreation Director at Preferred Care At Wall. “To be part of their reaching this major milestone, and the prospect of adding not only one but two pictures of beloved Residents to the 100th Birthday Gallery at our Center, was truly significant because this is the core of our Mission and what we strive to do on a daily basis: provide exceptional quality of care with devotion to each of our Residents.
Indeed, great care comes from exceptional staff, and Preferred Care ensures that the professional credentials of its nurses and therapists are matched by genuine warmth towards the Residents.

“We know our Residents on a very personal level, and providing care for them allows us to get to know their life stories, with their personal challenges and successes in all their glory”. Keeping in mind that Josephine was born in Pennsylvania, has two children and worked as a seamstress for Squibs Dress Factory, is certainly an important component of personal care. However, “knowing that today Josephine loves playing Bingo, going to Church and fully enjoys music, allows us to provide care that comes from the deeper connection of knowing what makes her tick” adds Gianna.
The same goes for Fannie Sass, “Fannie was born in Pittsburg in 1916, she is a mother of 2 who worked as a cook for Bristol Meyers, and at one time even operated her own ‘Fannies Hair Salon’ in Pennsylvania. We connect with Fannie from what we know is meaningful to her, like her passion for crocheting and reading, her love of pizza, and her natural disposition to talk to everyone – most of all her family!
