WALL, NJ - The Wall Township Committee addressed additional strides to comply with the Mount Laurel affordable housing initiative.

At a Sept. 23 meeting, the committee adopted two ordinances that designate two sites as affordable housing zones: the Sea Glass site off of Atlantic Avenue and the Quail Oaks site off Route 34 and Wyckoff Road.

The committee also introduced two new ordinances aimed at designating affordable-housing zones in North Wall at Schwartz farm on Asbury Road and at the American Properties site near Route 34.

The scramble to increase affordable housing units in Wall comes after a 2019 court settlement with the Fair Share Housing group, which calls for the construction of nearly 1,000 low- and moderate-income housing units at over 15 locations across the municipality.

Judge Linda Grasso Jones approved Wall Township’s plan at a virtual fairness hearing on June 24 in state Superior Court. A Superior Court compliance hearing is set for Nov. 9.
