Wall Officers Honored For Long-Distance Dog Delivery

The Myrtle Beach delivery of a basset hound back to her owner drew widespread attention in August.

WALL, NJ — Two Wall Township patrolmen who went out of their way, literally, to return a dog to its family were honored this week by township and state officials.

Patrolmen Frank Kuhl and Mike Tancredi received a proclamation from the Wall Township Committee on Wednesday for their efforts on behalf of Bella the bassett hound. They also received a proclamation from Assemblyman Sean Kean and Assemblyman Dave Rible.

Kuhl, who made a promise to Bella’s owner to return her to her family in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Tancredi made the trip on their own time from New Jersey to Myrtle Beach with Bella on Aug. 4.
