Wall Prepares For Major Winter Storm: Latest Forecast, How To Prepare
Heavy snowfall, a wintry mix and dangerous cold could lead to power outages, downed trees and widespread closures, officials say.
WALL, NJ — Wall residents are urged to prepare for a major winter storm that could bring over a foot of snow, icy roads and dangerously cold temperatures to the Garden State over the weekend.
According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to impact the region from Saturday night through Monday morning.
In the Long Branch and greater Monmouth County area, forecasters are currently predicting around 12-18” of total snowfall.

On Friday afternoon, Governor Mikie Sherrill declared a State of Emergency in all 21 counties ahead of the storm, warning residents that this "is not an average storm."
Monmouth County is also under a Winter Storm Warning from Saturday night through Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.

“Heavy snow and some ice accumulation will make travel dangerous or impossible,” the National Weather Service said in its Friday afternoon briefing. “Expect widespread road closures and significant delays on major interstates and highways.”
Alongside heavy snow and ice accumulation, forecasters are also warning that a combination of heavy snow, followed by sleet/freezing rain and breezy northeast winds, could result in some isolated instances of downed trees and power lines as well as power outages.

As of Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service's forecast for Wall is:
- Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 20. Wind chill values as low as -5. Northwest wind 5-10 MPH, with gusts as high as 20 MPH.
- Saturday Night: Snow likely after 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 14. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 MPH after midnight. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
- Sunday: Snow before 1 p.m., then snow, freezing rain, and sleet. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 34. Northeast wind 10-15 MPH, with gusts as high as 30 MPH. The chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1-0.2 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 7-11 inches possible.
- Sunday Night: Snow and sleet before 10 p.m., then freezing rain and sleet between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., then snow likely after 4 a.m. Low around 24. The chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.
- Monday: Snow likely, mainly before 7 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. The chance of precipitation is 60%.
- Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 9.
Ahead of the storm, Wall Township officials are advising residents to prepare with the following safety tips:
- Please remove vehicles from street parking so plows can clear the roads efficiently.
- Parking is prohibited on any cul-de-sac once snow accumulation reaches 2 inches (per Township ordinance).
- Please move basketball hoops, garbage cans, and other items away from the roadside.
- For your safety, please avoid unnecessary travel during the storm as roads may be slippery and hazardous.
- When shoveling, please do not place snow into the roadway — this is not permitted and creates safety hazards.
- If possible, help by clearing snow from fire hydrants and checking on neighbors who may need assistance.
- Please report power outages directly to your provider (such as JCP&L).

If you need to move your vehicle off the street, officials said parking will be available at:
- Camp Evans Lot (Monmouth Boulevard)
- Orchard Park (Church Street)
- Pop Warner Fields (Baileys Corner Road)
Due to the weather, trash and recycling pickup has also been cancelled on Monday, and DPW will follow a Monday holiday schedule:
- Monday pickups → Tuesday
- Tuesday pickups → Wednesday (and so on for the rest of the week)
- There will be no bulk pickup this week
- Recycling Centers will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 26
“Thank you for your cooperation and patience as our DPW and emergency crews work to keep Wall Township safe,” officials said in an online post. “Please stay warm and stay safe!”
For those without shelter, a “Code Blue” alert has been extended in Monmouth County until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
“Code Blue” is put in place when temperatures drop below freezing (32 F), and conditions pose a threat to unsheltered individuals.
