Wall Teen Charged In Armed Robbery Of Gas Station

The 17-year-old was taken to the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center, police said

A 17-year-old Wall Township male has been arrested and charged in the armed robbery earlier this month at the Exxon on Route 35, Wall Township police announced Thursday.

The teen was arrested about 2 p.m. Thursday by Detective Elio Scarpa and members of the Wall Township Police Detective Bureau, Police Chief Robert Brice said in a news release. He was not identified because he is a juvenile.

The arrest was the result of the department’s investigation into the robbery, conducted by the patrol division and the detective bureau. The teen was charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to the release.

The teen is accused of approaching the station attendant at the Exxon about 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 1 and threatening the attendant with a knife to get an undisclosed amount of cash, police said, before running away on foot toward 18th Avenue.

The teen was processed at Wall Township Police headquarters before being taken to the youth facility, police said.
