Wall Woman Injured In Weekend Crash; Police Seek Witnesses

The collision closed New Bedford Road at Allaire Road for about two hours, police said.

WALL, NJ — Wall Township police are seeking witnesses to a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning on New Bedford Road that injured a Wall Township woman.

Wall Detective Lt. Greg Carpino said Patrolman Steven Swenson was responded to the crash at the intersection of New Bedford and Allaire Road about 10:45 a.m. to find the crash that brought down a utility pole.

Carpino said the preliminary investigation showed a 2003 Honda Civic driven by a 69-year-old from Wall was southbound on New Bedford Road and as the Honda entered the intersection, it was hit by a 2010 Toyota Rav4 driven west on Allaire Road by a 47-year-old man from Baltimore.

After the collision, the Honda went off the road, hit a traffic light and ended up on the grass, Carpino said.

The Wall woman was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Wall EMS for treatment of a non-life threatening injury, Carpino said. There were no other injuries, he said.

Traffic was detoured from the scene of the accident for about an hour while the Monmouth County Department of Transportation repaired the traffic light, he said.

Th crash is still under investigation. Any witnesses to this accident are asked to call Swenson at 732-449-4500.
