WALL, NJ — The woman in the wig is making an impression everywhere she goes: Wall Township police have joined the requests for information about her identity.

Wall Township police released additional photos of a woman who also is being sought by Toms River police in connection with attempts to cash stolen checks at at least five banks in New Jersey.

Wall Police Capt. Greg Carpino said the woman, seen in photos from surveillance footage, is being sought in connection with motor vehicle burglaries in the parking lots of various fitness centers in Wall Township last week.

On Friday, Jan. 26, police were called to the parking lot of Wings Fitness at 2100 Route 35 about 7:45 p.m. for a report of two motor vehicle burglaries, Carpino said. Sometime between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. the burglar smashed windows on both vehicles, which were locked, and stole personal items, he said. The next evening, Saturday, Jan. 27, police were called to the Atlantic Club parking lot at 1904 Atlantic Ave. for a motor vehicle burglary, where again the window of a locked vehicle was smashed and personal items stolen. That burglary happened between 5:55 p.m. and 6:59 p.m., Carpino said.

Carpino said the woman in the surveillance photos is wanted in connection with both incidents.

Earlier Thursday,Toms River police released a photo of the same woman wearing a blond wig after she was identified having tried to cash stolen checks at the Manasquan Bank in Howell and Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department, said they had been told she was wanted in a similar case in Wall.

Stocco said the woman is believed to be part of a group that is going around New Jersey breaking into vehicles where personal items and valuables are in plain sight.

"They then use accomplices to make purchases with stolen credit cards as well as to commit bank fraud," Stocco said.

The woman in the photos tried to cash stolen checks at banks in Little Egg Harbor, Mays Landing and Hammonton in early January, Stocco said.
