Woman Found Dead In Tarp In Wall Identified

Jami Leis, 35, of Toms River, is the woman whose body was found; authorities said an autopsy is needed to determine cause of death.

WALL, NJ — A woman whose body was found wrapped in a tarp and dumped by the side of a road in Wall on Thursday has been identified, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said Friday.

Jami Leis, 35, was found dead in the area of Brighton Avenue and Rockefeller Drive in Wall Township, Gramiccioni said.

There were no visible injuries to Leis. An autopsy is being performed to determine cause and manner of death, he said.

The prosecutor's office said her last known address was in Toms River.

Wall Township police responded to an initial call at 10:29 a.m. reporting the discovery of a body wrapped in a tarp and immediately called in the prosecutor's office, he said. Route 18 southbound exit ramps 7A and 7B were closed for several hours for the investigation, along with Brighton Avenue between Route 18 and Romano Boulevard. New Jersey State Police and the New Jersey Department of Transportation assisted with the road closures. All roads were reopened at 3:24 p.m., the prosecutor's office said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Detective Kevin Condon of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 800-533-7443, or Wall Detective Anthony Lacher at 732-449-4500, extension 1186.
