Civil War Encampment of the 3rd NJ at the Watchung Circle!

The 3rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry will be hosting an authentic Civil War encampment at the Watchung Circle on September 26th, 2015. - 10 am to 4 pm!

Bring the entire family back to 1861 as the 3rd New Jersey drills, marches, and explains the various aspects of Civil War army life, such as, camping, music, uniforms, medicine, equipment, weapons, and food.

Schedule of Events:

10:00 a.m. Camp opens to the public
10:15 Company formation, Colors and address by officers. Inspection of arms.
10: 30 First Company Drill at the discretion of officers.
11:00 Firing demonstrations lead by N.C.O.s
11:00 Camp Tours by all members of the 3rd NJ throughout the day.
11:15 Children’s Drill with wooden muskets
11:30 Medical Demonstration & Camp Tours
11:45 Musical/Drum demonstration in camp.
12: 00 Noon meal with “Wide Awake” rally nearby. Huzzah!!!
12 :45 Children’s Drill with wooden muskets
1:00 Second Company Drill at he discretion of officers.
1:30 Firing Demonstration lead by N.C.O.s
1:45 Medical Demonstration & Camp tours.
2:00 Music Demonstrations. Perhaps Cpl. Brennan will lead us all in a rousing song?
2: 15 Children’s Drill with wooden muskets
2:30 Firing Demonstration following Cpl. Brennan’s exhortation to be “Wide Awake” ( 1860) .
2:45 Medical Demonstration
3:00 Private reprimanded by officer for carrying “contraband items” in his knapsack.
3:15 Skirmish Drill....at the discretion of officers.
3:45 Final Company Drill at the discretion of officers.
4:15 Final Formation to Thank the good citizens of Watchung!!
4:30 Camp Closed to public.
