COVID, Snow Cause Warren To Postpone Winter Festival
This will be the second year in a row the festival has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year the festival was canceled.
WARREN, NJ ā A resurgence in COVID cases and the snowy weather have caused Warren to postpone its annual Winter Festival, Bonfire and Fireworks initially set for Saturday.
Warren Recreation Director Joe Passaro said the township was already looking at postponing the event when cases began to soar and then when the snow hit Friday it pushed the decision further.
"We want a healthy and safe environment for everyone since we get people who come from all over outside of Warren," said Passaro.

Passaro noted the event historically draws a large crowd and with the cold weather predicted for this weekend, the township wanted to avoid anyone getting sick.
Passaro will be working with Township Committee Liasion Jolanta Maziarz to figure out a new date for the festival, which will most likely happen when cases begin to drop again.

The Winter Festival was canceled last year due to the COVID pandemic as well.
On Thursday, Jan. 6, Warren reported 49 positive cases for that day alone and a total of 270 since Dec. 31.
