Far Hills Country Day School Mathletes Qualify for National Competition

Far Hills, NJ – 120 students from 15 schools competed in last week’s Mathleague.org state competition. 15 Far Hills mathematicians represented the school and are all to be commended for their perseverance and hard work. Team members included:

Grade 6 - Jake Brennan, Nate Rygh, Shaan Singh, Matthew Turner, Tyler Wilschut, Helen Xie

Grade 5 - Lauren Freed, Jay Fu, Brian Li, Grace Martin

Grade 4 - Aakriti Caprihan, Rohini Kandasamy, Maddie Rygh, Evan Samaro, Shelton Shieh The competition is intense at this level and three members of the Far Hills team placed in the top ten for their grade level. Matthew Turner - 10th place in Grade 6 Jay Fu - 2nd place in Grade 5 Aakriti Caprihan - 2nd place in Grade 4 These students now qualify for the national competition which will be held in Houston, TX on June 6. According to Dr. Janna Smith, Far Hills Certified Math Specialist, “Our students worked very hard this year to hone their skills and grapple with challenging problems. Not only did these students represent our school well, but they continue to amaze me with their leadership, teamwork and perseverance.”
