Far Hills Educator Selected as Master Music Teacher

FAR HILLS, NJ - Far Hills Country Day School (Far Hills) is pleased to announce that celebrated music teacher and author Amy Burns has been selected as Master Music Teacher by the New Jersey Retired Music Educators Association (NJRMEA).

NJRMEA is part of the New Jersey Music Educators Association and one of its main functions is to observe teachers nominated for this honor. When NJRMEA representatives saw Mrs. Burns’ kindergarten class in April, they were most impressed by the many teaching methods on display for teaching the basic elements of music, as well as the enthusiasm and joy students radiated as they participated in the class. Mrs. Burns’ ease with and use of a variety of technology, sound and movement set her apart from other nominees.

The NJMEA board officially approved Mrs. Burns’ selection at the June 9th board meeting and will honor her at their luncheon on Friday, February 19th, 2016 at the NJMEA convention at the East Brunswick Hilton.

When asked about receiving this truly prestigious award, Mrs. Burns commented, “I am so honored and humbled to receive this award. I love teaching music and I love teaching at Far Hills. I’m receiving this award because the students, teachers, parents, and administrators at Far Hills have supported and encouraged the arts program in so many ways. This award goes to our school and the entire faculty because the music program would not be honored if the school and faculty did not support it as enthusiastically as it does. Our school is a testament to how the arts play a positive role in a student’s education. I am so grateful to be a teacher at Far Hills!”
