Food Drive during Month of April at Bernardsville Public Library Benefits Homeless Veterans Donations Giving Back

The Basking Ridge Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring a food drive in April for the benefit of the homeless veterans in the Hope for Veterans program at Community Hope, Lyons VA campus. Community Hope provides temporary transitional housing for homeless veterans.

Look for the blue barrel at the Bernardsville Library. During the month of April, the Basking Ridge Chapter DAR will be placing a large, blue collection barrel in the Bernardsville Public Library on Anderson Hill Road to collect donations of non-perishable food items. Needed items include canned fish, chicken, and meat; soups and stews; fruits and vegetables; peanut butter and jelly; juice, cereal, and condiments, as well as personal care items, such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, shaving cream, razors, etc.. These items will be used to stock the community pantry at Community Hope.

Ginny Pasternak, Basking Ridge DAR Regent and Marianne Golden, Food Drive chair said that. the veterans in need at Community Hope truly appreciate all food and personal care items that we can collect for them. “They deserve our support. Thank you for making the effort to help them."
