WARREN, NJ — A fundraiser has been started for a Warren native who was thrown from his motorcycle and remains hospitalized with swelling to his brain.

The crash was reported on Sept. 14 at around 4:24 p.m. in the 500 block of Watchung Avenue where Watchung Police found a motorcyclist with serious injuries, said Watchung Police Detective Lt. Scott Anderle.

The motorcyclist, Chris Gaiser, 41, now living in North Plainfield, was flown to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick by medevac helicopter. Read More: Motorcyclist Airlifted To Hospital In Serious Watchung Crash

Gaiser remains hospitalized as of Monday with fractures to his skull, jaw, ribs, and multiple fractures in his face. He was intubated and a procedure was performed to monitor the swelling in his brain. He is currently in stable condition and is breathing on his own, according to a GoFundMe created to help cover medical expenses.

"It's pretty much a 'no news is good news' scenario. He's sedated in the SICU waiting for brain swelling to diminish before they can perform the surgeries needed. We are told it's a very slow process to get all the swelling down to a level needed for surgery to be effective," according to the GoFundMe update on Monday.

He underwent surgery this past weekend to repair his jaw. Another surgery is scheduled to put a plate in his forehead to repair the damage to the frontal bone of the skull (forehead) which was broken at impact.

After this, Gaiser will undergo a series of reconstructive surgeries to his face and jaw.

"Chris is not only tough and strong but caring and loving. Chris would give the shirt off his back to anyone in their time of need. He is a loved son, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law. We love him beyond words and we are asking for your help right now," according to the GoFundMe.

The fundraiser is looking to raise money to cover Gaiser's medical expenses. For more information or to donate click here.
