George Nets 4 as Watchung Hills Beats N. Hunterdon

Warriors bolt to 4-0 first-quarter lead and never look back in season-opener.

The Watchung Hills Regional High School boys lacrosse team kicked off its 2011 campaign with a strong offensive performance against North Hunterdon High School at home on Saturday morning, winning 14-10.

In Short
A strong first quarter propelled Watchung to its first victory of the season, as the Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Midway through the second period, North Hunterdon pulled to within 8-6.  But Watchung responded with goals from midfielder Tim Tedesco and midfielder Kyle McCann to make it 10-6, as North Hunterdon would never get closer than three goals the rest of the way. 

Warrior of the Game
Jeff George—The sophomore midfielder netted four goals in the Warriors' win. George scored once in the first and third quarters and twice in the second quarter to lead the way.  On his first goal, George showed the ability to take it strong to the net.  On his next two goals, George sliced through the middle of the defense.  And on his final one, George let a blast go from the top of the attacking zone, which found the back of the net.

Other key performances
The Warriors received strong offensive production from their midfielders as seniors Drew Vautin and Mike Chilvers each netted a pair of goals. Senior attackman Matt Bowman also added two goals.
