Good Samaritan Rescues Nearly Frozen Bird In Warren Lot
The bird was on its back, wasn't moving and it's eyes were half closed in the frigid weather before Sharon Kelly O'Brien scooped him up.

WARREN, NJ — As temperatures dropped below freezing on Thursday, a nearly frozen bird lay on the frigid blacktop of a Warren parking lot waiting for its demise until a Good Samaritan came to the rescue.
It was at 7:30 a.m. when Sharon Kelly O'Brien of Warren found the distressed bird on the ground of the Acme Markets parking lot off Washington Valley Road in Warren.
"It was on its back, wasn’t moving and it’s eyes were half closed. Although it was a long shot, something told me he might still be alive," O'Brien said. "I scooped him up in my car blanket and put him in my warm car. He has opened his eyes and moved his wing."

O'Brien brought the bird to The Raptor Trust in Millington, a state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitation center, shortly after they opened.
The bird was identified as a White-throated Sparrow and immediately placed in a heated incubator. The bird was weak and dehydrated but sitting up.

O'Brien is optimistic of the bird's recovery.
"We are optimistic he has or will turn the corner soon. He has the best possible chance of survival now that he is at The Raptor Trust," O'Brien said.
