The girls lacrosse team dropped its seventh straight game after being shutdown by a well-balanced Bridgewater-Raritan High School team 14-3 on Saturday afternoon.
In Short
The Warriors failed to take control of the game against a strong Panther offense. Playing in a soaking rain, Bridgewater poured a relentless torrent of goals past the Watchung Hills defense. The Panthers would put 10 through the pipes before the Warriors got on the board. In the second half, Watchung Hills tightened their defense allowing only two goals. The Warriors matched the Panthers in the second period with two goals of their own. The affair ended early when officials called the game with three minutes remaining after the lightening warning system sounded.
Warrior of the Game
Whitney Lazo —The freshman scored two of Watchung Hills' three goals. She got the Warriors into the game putting the ball past two Panther defenders and the goalie late in the first half to make it 10-1. Lazo added her second goal late in the game to make it 13-3.
Other key performances —Courtney Novak challenged Bridgewater goalie Haley Alvarez one-on-one to net the second goal for Watchung Hills.
