Stonecrest Church to Host Christmas Parties at Area Nursing Homes

Warren, NJ, November 29, 2017. . . Stonecrest Community Church, located in Warren, NJ, will host Christmas Parties simultaneously at six different nursing homes throughout Somerset County on Sunday, December 10th from 2:00-4:30PM.

Looking for a way to serve the surrounding community during the Christmas season, the decision was made to focus on a people often overlooked during the holidays - nursing home residents. “Having had family in nursing homes has always made me wonder how we as a church could bring the joy of Christmas to their residents, many of whom are not visited by family during the holidays,” said Tom McKenna, Family Pastor at Stonecrest and one of the event coordinators. “I would want someone to care for my family with a party like this, especially if I was not able to.”

Stonecrest Community Church will be hosting these parties at five assisted living / nursing homes and one group home around Somerset County. Current locations include: Sunrise of Basking Ridge in Basking Ridge, Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough, The Chelsea at Bridgewater in Bridgewater, The Chelsea at Warren in Warren, CareOne at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook, and the Old Stirling Group Home of the Arc for Somerset County in Warren. New locations are being added as the response has been overwhelming and help at each location is maxing out. Volunteers from Stonecrest Community Church will bring music, crafts, fun, and joy to each location. Additional Stonecrest Church Holiday events include A King is coming to Town, December 9th (5pm) and 10th (11am), presented by the Stonecrest Youth and Kids Choir. This year’s Christmas Eve Candlelight services will be on December 24th at 11:00am, 4:30pm and 6pm.
