TCC donates school supply packs to 5,000 teachers across the country

Nation's largest Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer gives school supplies to 10 pre-selected teachers at 500 participating stores

CARMEL, Ind. (March 17, 2016) – TCC, the largest Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer in the U.S., in a joint effort with its customers, announces today that it is donating school supply packs to 5,000 teachers across the country through its Teachers Rock Supply Giveaway.

With input from local community members, more than 500 participating TCC stores across the U.S. have pre-selected 10 local teachers who will receive their supply packs during the week of Feb. 21. The packages—valued at $50 each—will be filled with supplies, including glue, pencils, pens, markers, erasers, paper, tissue boxes and more. For every teacher reached, TCC is impacting 30 students. In 2015, TCC donated 3,500 supply packs to teachers across the country.

“Every year, the average teacher spends roughly $500 of their own money on school supplies, yet many classrooms still run out of materials halfway through the schoolyear,” said Scott Moorehead, CEO of TCC. “At TCC, we believe teachers deserve more. We believe that teachers rock. Replenishing their supplies is just one more way we are giving back through our Culture of Good, and we’re proud to be able to do it.”

TCC makes ongoing investments in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives through its Culture of Good. In 2015, its efforts included donating $1 million to Riley Hospital for Children, providing 100,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children, giving supply packs to 5,000 teachers, and contributing $100,000 in grants to organizations focused on improving the environment.
