Warren Cub Scouts did some amazing and fun things this year!

Warren Pack 182 Cub Scouts had a fun filled year of activities, service projects and learning.

Warren Cub Scout Pack 182 wrapped up its 2016-2017 school season with our annual Pack Picnic on June 25th. It’s been a great year of activities, learning and growth for the Cub Scouts. Each month, Cub Scout programs are focused around the 12 tenets of the Scout Law – each a character building experience for the boys.

In September we started off the school year with a Movie Night, welcoming back Scouts and families and meeting some new friends too. Popcorn Sales, our biggest fund raiser kicked off – connecting the Cubs with the community at various locations around town. In October Scout families enjoyed a weekend Camporee at Scout Camp Winnebago in Rockaway, NJ. In spite of cool, rainy and sometimes windy conditions, a great time was had by all. In November the Cubs enjoyed a visit from Impact Taekwondo, learning about Courtesy, Integrity and Perseverance while having fun too. In December, the Cubs visited seniors at The Chelsea and sang Holiday Carols and shared stories. In January Scout families got the opportunity to camp out at Liberty Science Center, a memorable evening for sure. By February Scouts were in high gear and ready to race in the Pack 182 Pinewood Derby. In March, we honored our Arrow of Light Scouts at the Blue & Gold Dinner and ceremony where they move up to Boy Scouts. In April the Pack organized a Children’s Book Drive at each of the Warren Elementary Schools and collected about 1000 books for our schools. In May many families enjoyed the Spring Camporee at Cam Wheeler in Allamuchy, NJ. Cubs also participated in Dealaman Pond Cleanup Day, clearing trash in preparation for the town’s annual Fishing Derby. Many Scouts also enjoyed the Fishing Derby. Over Memorial Day weekend our scouts built “Cub Cars” and drove them in the parade. June also saw our first group of graduating Lion (Kindergarten age) Cub Scouts move up to the rank of Tiger. Pack 182 was proud to have a strong group of Lions participating in this Pilot program for Cub Scouts. We were extremely proud to be represented by two of our Cub Scouts; David Krause & Gideon Minieri at the Regionals and then World Championship Pinewood Derby held in NYC on June 24, 2017. The Pack Picnic and Raingutter Regatta closed out the school year with delicious food and relaxing fun for all.

Cubs also participated in many Den activities, service projects and town events throughout the year. Activities are planned for July and August to keep the fun going – these involve a Fossil Hunt at Big Brook Fossil Area in Colt’s Neck in July, Scout Day at Dorney Park, Jake’s Day at the Peaquest Trout Hatchery in Oxford and a Historic Hike in Jockey Hollow in August.
