Warriors Boy's Soccer Team Ready For Next Level

After a tough 2010 campaign, the boy's soccer team is ready to make big strides.

As the summer weather moves further and further away, that means fall sports are just getting started.  We’ll take a look at the fall squads, previewing each team and checking in on how they’re doing so far this year.  Today, we look at the Warriors boy’s soccer team.

Overview

The Warriors hope they can improve on a down season last year, and make some noise in the county.  Head Coach Greg Leonow has a strong backline and midfield and is hoping his offense can create a strong attack to take his club to another level.

How They’re Doing So Far

The Warriors are off to a 1-4 start so far.  With their sole victory coming against Ridge at home, they have fallen to North Hunterdon, Pingry, Montgomery, and Governor Livingston.

Keep Your Eye On

Philip Reytan – The Senior Midfielder controls the pace of the game for Watchung.  With good technique and a great vision of the field, he is great at winning balls in the air and is one of the team captains.

Greg Stone – The Senior Forward is a dynamic player for the Warriors.  A team player and one of this year’s captains, his hard should pay off for Watchung this season.

John Marques – The Junior Goalkeeper will be the last line of defense for Watchung this season.  His great athletic ability and strong leadership will be a big part of this year’s squad.

They’ll Miss

Federico Centurion – A very good technical player, Centurion is playing soccer at Rider University

Philip Miko – A strong attacking threat last year, Miko is playing at Raritan Valley Community College.

Coach’s Take

“We always expect to compete at our highest level every game with the goal to win the county and state tournament.” – Head Coach Greg Leonow
