WARREN, NJ - Watchung Hills' field hockey team defeated Franklin in the first round of the Somerset County Tournament on Saturday, 1-0.

"We are so proud of our field hockey program! Congratulations to all of our players, Coach Kelly and the coaching staff, and all of our field hockey parents. What an exciting win!" said Chris Van Vliet, Watchung Hills Director of Athletics.
Samantha Shannon, assisted by Chelsea Semper, scored the only goal of the game during the first half of the Saturday evening match in Warren.

Lauren Trumpore held off Franklin with 3 saves.
On Friday night, October 7, Watchung Hills will host North Plainfield for their 6 pm Senior Night game. Senior recognition will begin at 5:30 pm
Eight seeded Watchung Hills will then faced off with first seeded Bridgewater-Raritan on Saturday October 8 in the second round of the Somerset County Tournament.
