Wolverine Teams Battle Bridgewater Opponents

Jr. Pee Wees suffer first loss, while Pee Wees hand Bridgewater their first.

Blue Flag

The Wolverines were led on offense by Tyler Marion (3 carries for 55 yards) scoring two touchdowns as well as Luke Freijomil (3 carries for 40 yards) and Jake Checchio (1 carry for 10 yards) each scoring a touchdown; John Cerwinski (2 carries for 45 yards).

On defense, John Cerwinski and Martin Howell each grabbed three flags and Vincent Freijomil grabbed two flags.

Gold Flag

The Wolverines took on the Panthers of Bridgewater this Sunday. The Wolverine offense consistently moved the ball throughout the day scoring three times. Colin Archbold rushed for 30 yards and a score and also completed a 15-yard pass to Dylan Simon. Timothy Marshall sprinted 40 yards for a score while Aqili Holmes capped off the scoring with a 15-yard dash which was set up by a trick play. Matthew Dahl added 20 yards rushing on the day.

The Wolverine defense was led by Dylan Kelly who made plays on both sides of the field pulling six flags. John King made big defensive stops and finished with four flags. Matthew Dahl, Aqili Holmes and Colin Archbold grabbed two flags each while Timothy Marshall and Dylan Simon pulled one.

Junior Flag

The Watchung Hills Wolverines battled the Bridgewater Panthers. The Wolverine offense was carried by David Rosenfarb who had three 40-yard touchdown runs on the day. Joseph Vecchio added another score on a 25-yard sprint. Chase Miller, Buddy Steen and Travis Jelmert each added 20 yards rushing.

The defense was led by the scrappy Ryan Johnson who pulled four flags on the day. Travis Jelmert finished with three flags and Joseph Vecchio with two. Tyler Shpunder, Chase Miller and David Rosenfarb grabbed one flag each.

Mighty Mite

The Watchung Hills Mighty Might Team took on the Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers this past week. The Wolverines played their best game of the season against a very tough Panther team. The team was once again lead by its defense which posted its third shutout of the season. Defensive lineman Jonathan Demontagnac, Shane Kelly, Jack Valenti, Bryce Rooks and KC Boyle did an outstanding job of disrupting the offense and getting to the quarterback and CB Jack Haiken and LB's Mike Butrico and Justin Ferriera limited the Panther passing attack and outside running game.

Offensively, the Wolverines were lead by the power running of FB Josh Ramierez and the play action passing of QB John Annunziata to TE Patrick Stefurak. The Wolverines took their opening possession and marched right down the field ending with a short TD run by Jonathan Demontagnac early in the second quarter. Lineman Jack and Thomas Dardis anchored the o-line on the drive.

In the second half, the Wolverine offense made the play of the game as Annunziata connected with Stefurak for 40 yard touchdown pass on a 4th and 8 halfway through the fourth quarter. On the play, Stefurak broke three tackles and outraced the Panther secondary for the score.

Jr. Pee Wee

Watchung Hills Wolverines Jr. Pee Wee team suffered its first loss of the season 6-0 to the Bridgewater Panthers Sunday.

The offense battled all day pounding the ball with great efforts from Conner Cook, Chris Clintock, Jack Taub. The offensive line held there ground against a very physical Bridgewater d-line. Anthony Tomaro, Mike Fornaro, George Rooks and Chris Susglou gave solid efforts.

The defense held Bridgewater scoreless until 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter when a Bridgewater running back broke free from defenders and scored. Otherwise, the defense shut pretty much shut down Bridgewater's offense. The charge was led by Clintock, Andrew Reale, Gavin Defuria, Rob Saum and TJ Pecararo.

PeeWee

The Watchung Hills Wolverine Pee Wee team faced off against an undefeated Bridewater Panther team and emerged victorious with a final score 7-6. The first half was scoreless with a couple turnovers from both teams. Watchung Hills middle linebacker Jonathan Taub delivered a vicious hit and caused a fumble recovered by Matt Roth.

Bridgewater got on the board first in the beginning of the 4th quarter and led 6-0 with 8 minutes left to play. The Wolverines struggled with the ensuing kick-off and started their drive on the 10 yard line. Tom Schelling ran hard behind the blocking of Andrew Haiken, Nick Molinari, Ben Allgor, and Taub. The Wolverines faced 4th and goal from the 5 and Josh Hansen connected with Eric Plesko for the touchdown to tie it up 6-6. Schelling got the call on the extra point play and a strong second effort had him cross the goal line and the Wolverines led by 1 with 5 minutes left.

The Defense was strong with Kevin Caracappa, Tyler Jelmert, and Plesko making great plays to stop the Panthers from scoring.
