Wolverines End Season with State, District Titles

Loss to Ridge in regional tournament ends strong season.

Getting edged out of the Cal Ripken Mid-Atlantic Championship Tournament stings, but for the players on Warren's 8U Wolverines team, looking back at all the team accomplished this year will make the tournament loss easy to forget.

Start with the team's . The Wolverines fell into a two run deficit early, but came back to win 8-3, and advance to the state finals.

The state title came down to a rematch for the Wolverines, who found themselves facing South Orange/Maplewood again on July 27. This time, it was the Wolverines who scored first—jumping to a five run first inning lead.

Before facing South Orange/Maplewood for the state title, the Wolverines had dispatched with Ridge, 5-4, but Ridge came back for revenge Monday night in the regional tournament. The Wolverines fell 3-2 to Ridge, ending the season.  

The team was coached by Kevin Everly (Head Coach), Walter Lee (Asst. Coach), Todd Kelly (Asst. Coach) and Jeff Malfetti (Asst. Coach).
