8 Arrested For Shoplifting In Watchung

WATCHUNG, NJ — Eight people were arrested last week for shoplifting at Watchung stores, according to the police blotter.

Watchung Police blotter:

On Sept. 9: Anthony Deamorin, 34, of Fanwood was arrested for shoplifting $51.99 worth of merchandise from Sears on Route 22 East.

On Sept. 9 at 10:27 a.m.: Vernon Lee, 56, of Roselle was arrested after police responded to a report of a disorderly person in the Home Depot parking lot. He was found to be driving under the influence. Lee was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, Suspended License, Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, Careless Driving and Failure to Install Interlock Device.

On Sept. 6: Lamont Turner, 60, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting $53.91 worth of merchandise from Walmart on Route 22 West.

On Sept. 6 at 6:54 p.m.: A woman reported that while shopping at Walmart on Route 22 West she went into the restroom and put her I-phone 6 down to use the facilities. She left the restroom and a short time later remembered she left her phone behind. When she returned it was gone. The phone is valued at $760.

On Sept. 4: The Gap Store on Route 22 West reported an elderly black woman fled from the store with $773 worth of clothing.

On Sept. 4: Darnell Reed, 31, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting $51.86 worth of merchandise from Walmart on Route 22 West.

On Sept. 4: Martha Manjarrez, 33, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting $56.99 worth of cosmetics from Walmart on Route 22 West.

On Sept. 2: Johanna Salazar, 25, of Piscataway was arrested for shoplifting $45.06 worth of cosmetics and clothing from Walmart on Route 22 West. She was seen on surveillance camera taking the items from the shelves and concealing them in her purse. She was also found to have an active warrant out of South Plainfield for $189.

On Aug. 31: Elisabeth Frederic, 30, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting jewlery, shorts and a wallet worth $112.97 from Sears on Route 22 East.

On Aug. 30: Karen Hill, 50, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting $52.17 worth of merchandise from Walmart on Route 22 West.

On Aug. 29: Cesar Palma, 45, of South Plainfield was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on the Watchung Circle for having four active warrants from Westfield for $1,500, Union for $1,000, North Plainfield for $500 and Annadale for $250. He was issued a summonses for license and registration.
