Alleged Car Burglar Caught On Camera In North Plainfield

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Do you know this man? He was caught on camera breaking into a mini van in North Plainfield early Thursday morning, police report.

A video surveillance system caught these images of the man near West End Avenue between 2:11 a.m. and 2:14 a.m. The suspect is wearing a heavy tan colored winter jacket, dark colored pants, hiking boots, and a mask covering his face.

It is believed that this suspect is a white male and he is also using a backpack and has a flashlight, police reported.

During the burglary, the suspect used a tool to attempt to pry open the door and after being unsuccessful, he broke the rear passenger side window, police report.

"Please do not leave anything of value inside your vehicle in view," police said. "This suspect checked another car prior to this one and decided to break this window to get a purse in the back seat."

This is not the first burgarly, North Plainfield Police Department have seen an increase in reports over the past several weeks of burglaries to cars.
