Almost 6K Worth Of Heroin And Cocaine Seized In Watchung

A narcotics bust conducted in Watchung's Blue Star Shopping Center on Monday lead to the arrest of a Plainfield man in possession of almost $6,000 worth narcotics.  

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy Fitzgerald and Watchung Borough Chief of Police Joseph Cina announce the arrest of Eman Hassenbey, 36, of East 2nd Street, Plainfield, New Jersey.

Prosecutor Soriano states that the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force received information that on May 5, 2014 defendant Hassenbey would be in possession of a quantity of heroin while in the area of the Blue Star Shopping Center. Additionally, he would be operating an Infinity automobile, silver in color, bearing a New Jersey registration.

As a result of receiving this information, detectives set up surveillance in the shopping center parking lot. At approximately 4:30 p.m, the surveillance team observed defendant Hassenbey operating the Infinity. Subsequent to parking his vehicle, Hassenbey was approached by Task Force members who identified themselves as police officers.  After being advised of the ongoing narcotics investigation defendant Hassenbey refused to give detectives consent to search his person and vehicle.  Warren Township K-9 Officer Bryan Horst responded with his K-9 Onyx who conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle. Onyx gave a positive reaction for the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

A search warrant was obtained for defendant Hassenbey’s person and vehicle.  The searches resulted in the seizure of 251 decs of heroin, 31 small bags of cocaine and a bag of cocaine containing approximately four (4) grams. 

The estimated street value of the heroin seized is approximately $5,020.00 and the estimated street value of the cocaine is approximately $710.00.

Defendant Hassenbey was logged in the Somerset County Jail Bail with bail set by the Honorable Margaret Goodzeit, J.P.F.P. at $75,000 cash only.
