NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Two men are wanted in connection with an armed robbery of a North Plainfield restaurant last Friday evening.
On May 27 at around 11 p.m., an employee working for Hunan Royal Chinese Restaurant located at 88 Watchung Ave., said he had just come back from a delivery when he saw a tall black man wearing a black hoodie holding a knife at the back door.
The employee said he also saw another black man run out of the same door as he pointed a handgun at him while he remained in his delivery vehicle. Both suspects fled on foot towards a dark-colored SUV or van, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson said.

Another witness also reported seeing two thin black men in their early 20s exiting a dark-colored SUV or van and park on Brook Avenue. One man was wearing a grey hoodie and the other man was wearing a dark blue hoodie with a white stripe running down the arm, Robertson said.
The witness observed the men walking west towards Watchung Avenue and about four minutes later, the same witness saw both men running back to the dark-colored vehicle driven by a white person. The vehicle was last seen driving East on Brook Avenue, Robertson said.

A second employee reported that while at the cash register, a black man with a gun approached her from behind and forced her to open the register. The suspect then removed an unknown amount of cash from the register. Both men then fled using the rear door exit, according to reports.
Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects and urge the public not to approach the suspects as they may be armed with a firearm.
