Deer Rescued From Watchung Lake

Watchung, NJ -- A deer was stuck in the middle of Watchung Lake before a passerby called police.

Cindy Barrett of Bridgewagter spotted the deer when she was coming back from lunch on Sunday, June 5.

"In the lake was a deer stuck in the mud by the marshy land," Barrett posted in a Bridgewater community group on Facebook. "Called the police and they are trying to remove it. Pray they can save it."

The fire department and marine unit were dispatched to the scene and rescued the deer, which is on dry land now.
