Do Not Leave Cars Running Alone: 3 Cars Stolen in Somerset County

"We have seen numerous thefts while cars are left warming up with the doors unlocked and these are easy targets for thieves," police said.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Baby it's cold out there. Despite the bitter temperatures, North Plainfield Police are reminding residents not to leave your car running while it is unlocked or unattended as there have been three cars stolen recently in town.

"We have seen numerous thefts while cars are left warming up with the doors unlocked and these are easy targets for thieves. Always lock car doors and NEVER leave the keys inside the vehicle while unattended / leave valuables out of sight," police reported.

  1. Resident of Hudson Ave reported her 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo (black) 2 door stolen from the driveway on 11/29/2016. The license plate of this vehicle is New Jersey YKR-32C.
  2. Resident of Fisk Place reported his 2003 GMC Sierra pick up (white) truck stolen from the driveway on 12/29/2016. The license plate of this vehicle is New Jersey XCC-E34.
  3. Resident of 401 RT 22 west (Regency Village) reported his 2005 Honda S-2000 (silver) 2 door stolen from the apartment parking lot on 01/06/2017. The license plate of this vehicle is New Jersey E49-EKY.
