Final Officer Approved to Fill Watchung Police Ranks

The Watchung Borough Council approved the hiring of Ocean County resident Brian McLaughlin, 25, at Thursday's council meeting, completing a recent hiring spree that filled vacancies in the department.

McLaughlin has been employed as a Class 2 special officer with the Seaside Heights Police Department, after graduating from the Ocean County Police Academy in May 2010.

McLaughlin began as a probationary officer today, and will receive further training by riding with another officer for a period of time.

She said Ofcs. Dunne and Pero had completed ride-along training and are now ready for regular duty. Ofc. Hoffman completed his academy training and is also beginning the ride-along training.
