Package Thief Nabbed While Attempting to Steal Another in Somerset County: Police

A North Plainfield Police Officer spotted the alleged thief as he was about to steal another package in the borough, authorities report.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — An alleged package thief was arrested by a North Plainfield Police Officer while in the middle of stealing another package, authorities report.

"Happy to say that one of NPPD's finest spotted the below pictured package thief suspect on a side street about to steal another package," North Plainfield Borough posted.

Marco Castro, 31, of Plainfield was identified as the suspect and charged with theft on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m., North Plainfield Police report.

Castro was spotted by an officer in the area of Rockview Avenue and Magnolia Avenue matching the description of the suspect, police reported.

The borough had sent out an alert seeking the public's help in identifying Castro on Tuesday after a surveillance camera spotted him allegedly stealing a delivered package left on the front porch on a Rockview Avenue home on Jan. 6 around 4 p.m.

Castro was transported to police headquarters, processed and transported to Somerset County Jail.
