9/11 Attacks to be Remembered on Village Green
Annual event remembers those lost on one of the nation's darkest days.
The Borough ofĀ Watchung will gather Sept. 11 once more to commemorate one of the nation's darkest days.Ā
The annual Watchung 9/11 Memorial Service will take place atĀ 5:30 p.m. at the Tree of Life Oasis on the Village Green.
The brief ceremony officiated by borough leadersĀ will pay tribute to the men and womenĀ lost in the terrorist attacks on New York's World Trade Center, United Airlines Flight 93Ā and the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. Sure to be recalled and mourned areĀ Watchung residentsĀ Christopher N. Ingrassia and Honor Elizabeth Waino, who were among thoseĀ killed that day. Plaques featuring faces of all the victimsĀ are part of the Tree of Life Oasis.Ā
The Village Green is the site of a forthcoming WatchungĀ 9/11 Memorial that will feature a large pink heart carved from marbleĀ and a piece of steel from the shattered Twin Towers.
