Unlicensed Dentist Arrested For Practicing Inside North Plainfield Apartment
An investigation began after a former patient was hospitalized after visiting the alleged dentist. Detectives are seeking any other victims.

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — A man who was running an unlicensed dental practice out of a North Plainfield apartment was arrested after a former patient was hospitalized for an infection and required emergency treatment, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Jorge Nolivos, 58, of Orchard Street in Elizabeth was arrested on April 26 around 6 p.m. at an apartment on Somerset Street in North Plainfield, which he was renting for his unlicensed practice, according to Robertson. During a search of the place, detectives seized dental instruments, hypodermic needles and more than 100 dosages of the numbing medication lidocaine.
The arrest followed a month-long investigation after authorities were alerted that a former patient of Nolivos was hospitalized for an infection and required emergency treatment, Robertson said.

An undercover detective from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigation Unit later met with Nolivos inside the apartment, where they talked about the process of receiving dental treatment and the related costs.
Nolivos was arrested without incident and charged with second-degree possession with the intent to distribute prescription legend drugs, two counts of third-degree unlawful practice of dentistry and possession of hypodermic needle-syringe, a disorderly person’s offense.
