Police responded to reports of a possible shooting around 4:20 a.m. at the Americas Best Value Inn located on Route 22 and found the 46-year-old woman had sustained multiple lacerations to her head, and a graze gunshot wound to her leg.
The victim told police that the two suspects entered the front entrance of the building separately, both brandishing guns toward her.
According to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, the clerk complied with the suspects’ demands and handed an undisclosed amount of money over to them.
The suspects then led the clerk to the back office of the motel at gunpoint and demanded additional money while pistol-whipping the victim. One of the suspects also fired their weapon, striking the clerk in her right calf and causing a minor graze wound.
The suspects reportedly fled on foot heading south across Route 22 West near the Bridgewater Diner.
