VIDEO: Watchung Marks Sept. 11 Anniversary
Borough ceremony highlights local lives lost in terrorist attacks.
Watchung marked the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with recollections of local residents killed in the attacks, as well as comforting words of hope.
The event featured several musical performances, including the Valley View School band performing "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come" and "For the Beauty of the Earth," Ruth Sachariah singing "The Star Spangled Banner" and "The Sound of Silence," and "Taps," played by Anastasia Rick.
The Rev. Barbara Peters gave an invocation and benediction prayers, and Alexandra Benc read a poem titled "The Names."

Borough Councilman William Nehls led the ceremony, and offered remembrances of Watchung residents Honor Elizabeth Waino, who was killed aboard United Airlines Flight 93, and Christopher Ingrassia, who was killed in the World Trade Towers.
Mayor Gerald Mobus shared his thoughts on the borough's ceremony, and named several local volunteers who have contributed to the borough, including Ed Fine, Alvin Kappelmann Jr. and John Kostas.
